SONIC SCREWDRIVER: Windows Sound Editor

Sonic Screwdriver is a disk based Sound
Editor for handling WAV format files.

The Sonic Screwdriver sound editor
functions include:
  Pitch Shift by semitone and octave;
  Noise Gate;
  Four varieties of fade in/out;
  Vibrato with a choice of 5 envelopes,
    and controllable depth;
  Undo on all functions;
  Edit/record direct to disk, for
    unlimited sample size;
  Promote and demote between 8/16 bit
    and mono/stereo;
  and True Echo with options such as:
    Accelerating/Decelerating echo;
    Echo a specific number of times;
    Automatically extend sample.

Sonic Screwdriver requires a minimum of
a 33Mhz 386 based PC (or better) running
Windows 3.1, and preferably a Sound
Card, though it will operate using the
speaker driver.

This program is distributed as shareware
(see the documentation for details). The
shareware version is fully functional,
differing from the registered version
in the prescence of a reminder on the
backdrop that it is unregistered, and an
initial pop-up dialog describing
registration. On registering and paying
the appropriate fee, you will be sent a
copy of either the Sound Source CD ROM
(described below), or a registered
version of Sonic Screwdriver.

The Sound Source CD ROM contains the
registered version of Sonic Screwdriver
as well as over 1700 WAV samples in 18
different categories, including music,
drums, effects and speech. Samples are
high quality and fully indexed. A
database program is provided to search
samples by description, running time,
channels, category, etc. An Audio Browser
is included for easy exploration. Also
included is CD Audio Pro, a program to
support your audio CD discs. Please
bear in mind that many samples on the
CD ROM are high quality 16 bit and/or
stereo for which you will require a
sound card in order to hear them. You
can, of course, use Sonic Screwdriver
to demote these samples to 8 bit and
mono if you are limited to using the
internal speaker driver.
